Top Performers: Week 10

Will Rogers (QB, Brandon)

vs. Oak Grove (L, 36-28)

Passing: 14/25, 495 yards, 4 TD

An absolutely incredible stat line like this somehow was not enough to overcome the Warriors this past Thursday. Let’s not discount what an incredible job Ashton Nickelberry did as well out wide with a mind-boggling 270 yards and two touchdowns on eight catches. The Bulldogs will look to keep their playoff hopes alive this week against Northwest Rankin.

Jed Lewis (QB, Quitman)

vs. Richland (W, 48-32)

Passing: 13/22, 182 yards, 4 TD

Rushing: 10 car, 201 yards, 2 TD

It’s simple really, the Rangers had no answer for this dual-threat quarterback. They didn’t have an answer for his weapon at receiver as well in Kesean Johnson, who had six catches for 93 yards and three of those four scores through the air. The Panthers and that red-hot offense will look to do the same against Mendenhall this week.

Fred Watson (DB, Lake Cormorant)

vs. Grenada (W, 21-7)

Defense: 6 tackles, 2 PD, 2 INT, pick-six

Special Teams: blocked field goal

Gator head coach Nick Nester said after the game that he tried to prove that he was among the top defensive players in the state this past Thursday. Watson had himself a note worthy performance to back it up. His pick-six in the fourth quarter sealed the deal and put the Gators in a good position with playoffs around the corner. The Gators will host Saltillo this week.

Antonio Harmon (WR/FS, Kosciusko)

vs. Northeast Lauderdale (W, 19-15)

Receiving: 2 rec, 25 yards, TD

Defense: 11 tackles, INT (pick-six)

Harmon showed this past Friday that he was a playmaker, sure. However, he made the big play when he intercepted Jaheim Smith’s pass near the goal line and ran it back 95 yards the other way to score on the game’s final play. Unbelievable. The Whippets have a big challenge ahead of them this week by hosting Louisville.

Dustin Allison (QB, Pass Christian)

vs. Moss Point (L, 31-28)

Passing: 19/30, 354 yards, 4 TD

One of the coast’s finest air show captains, Allison put up another 300+ yard performance, his fourth of the season. He had some big time help from the likes of Andrew Moffett, who had nine catches for 224 yards and two scores through the air. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to defeat the eventual 4A Region 8 champions. The Pirates host St. Stanislaus this week.

Dephabian Fant (RB, Amanda Elzy)

vs. Winona (W, 42-36)

Rushing: 23 car, 375 yards, 6 TD

Sheesh. Fant ran right through a Tiger defense that couldn't find a way to contain him. He was an instrumental part in the Panthers' enormous win over 3A power Winona. It will be tough, but we'll see if he can replicate that kind of game against Humphreys County this week.

Jaqualian Gillespie (LB, South Panola)

Randy Anderson (ATH, Lafayette)

Rushing: 17 car, 272 yards, 3 TD

vs. Northwest Rankin

T.J. Colom (ATH, Walnut)

Jamari Thompson (RB, Pearl)

197 yards, 3 TD

vs. Northwest Rankin
