Will Rogers (QB, Brandon)

vs. Starkville (W)

Passing: 20/37, 277 yards, 3 TDs

The Bulldogs knocked off then-No. 2 ranked Starkville to open their season, and a big reason is because of this guy’s right arm. The 2019 Elite 10 member wasted no time showing why he’s one of the best signal-callers in the state, going up against a legit front seven from Starkville. His performance catapulted Brandon to No. 2 in this week’s rankings, setting up a 1 vs. 2 matchup Friday night.

Jacob Partridge (WR, Lamar)

vs. Starkville Academy (W)

Receiving: 10 rec, 153 yards, 2 TDs

No Joseph Hutchinson? No problem; this guy will help you out. Partridge made Lamar’s new QB's (Will Morris) job easier with his performance against the Volunteers from Starkville Academy. Look for him to try to do more, going up against PCS this weekend.

Ty Keyes (QB, Taylorsville)

vs. Scott Central (W)

Passing: 19/29, 341 yards, 4 TDs

Revenge is sweet, isn’t it? A now-healthy Ty Keyes put on a clinic against the defending 2A state champs and proved why the Tartars deserved to be the No. 1-ranked 2A squad in this year’s preseason rankings. His top target, Jabez Griffith, also had a whale of a game with 186 receiving yards.

Khi Holiday (QB, TCPS)

vs. Tishomingo County (W)

Passing: 9/15, 315 yards, 3 TDs

Rushing: 13 car, 89 yards, 3 TDs

It was almost like he was a video game character out there this past Thursday. Holiday was near unstoppable with the ball in his hands, scoring six total touchdowns. Like Ty Keyes, he also had huge help from his receiver, Noah Foster, who had 190 of those yards receiving.

Ike Chandler (RB, Itawamba AHS)

vs. Amory (W)

Rushing: 16 car, 276 yards, 5 TDs

Do the math, that's 17 yards per carry to go along with the 32 points he scored this past Friday. Chandler made it look easy. After Week 1, he leads the state in both rushing yards and points. Not too shabby.

Other Notables:

Colten Bales (Bogue Chitto)

vs. McLaurin: 26 tackles

Branson Logan (PRC)

vs. Hancock: 20 tackes, sack

Jaqualian Gillespie (South Panola)

vs. Tupelo: 20 tackles

Queston Skipper (Clarksdale)

vs. Coahoma AHS: 13 car, 244 yards, 3 TDs

Janari Dean (South Panola)

vs. Tupelo: 20 car, 160 yards, 2 TDs
