Top Performers: Week 12/Postseason Rd. 1
Well folks, it's hard to believe, but the regular season is now over in all six of Mississippi’s high school football classifications. Lets take a look back at some of the top performers from this past Friday night.
Lafayette QB, Randy Anderson
Passing- 1/6, 17 yards
Rushing- 12 carries, 210 yards, 5 touchdowns
Randy Anderson compiled monster numbers in a 42-13 win over Lake Cormorant, but here’s the catch, he put up this stat line in the first half. Anderson led the Dores into the locker room with a 35-0 lead, and didn't see the field in the second half. Lafayette travels to Germantown for the first round of playoffs next week.
Sebastopol RB, Reggie Shepherd
Rushing- 14 carries, 179 yards, 4 touchdowns
Reggie Shepherd ran hog wild against West Lowndes in a 57-14 win. That was the finale of Sebastopol’s season, but what a finish it was.
North Panola QB, KJ Jefferson
Passing- 19/23, 282 yards, 4 touchdowns
Rushing- 13 carries, 111 yards
Another week, another ridiculous stat line for KJ Jefferson. Jefferson accounted for 393 total yards and four scores in a 55-14 playoff win over Amanda Elzy. North Panola advanced to the second round of the playoffs and will face North Pontotoc next Friday night.
Simmons WR, C.J. Williams
Receiving- 8 catches, 202 yards, 1 touchdown
CJ Williams hauled in eight catches for north of 200 yards in a 52-6 Simmons win over McAdams. The win kept the Blue Devils undefeated heading into a playoff matchup with Tupelo Christian Prep this week.
Brandon WR, Jonathan Mingo
Receiving- 6 catches, 92 yards, 2 touchdowns
Jonathan Mingo has been phenomenal all season long, and last Friday was no exception. Mingo hauled in both of Brandon’s touchdowns on the night in a 14-10 win over Pearl. Brandon begins their playoff run against St. Martin this Friday.
Rosa Fort WR, Jacoby Jones
Receiving- 17 catches, 266 yards, 5 touchdowns
Rosa Fort wide receiver Jacoby Jones had an insane stat line at the end of Rosa Fort’s 52-46 triple overtime upset win over Shannon. Jones accounted for five of Rosa Fort’s scores to help the Lions advance to the second round. Rosa Fort will take on Corinth this coming Friday.
Pearl K, Caden Davis
Punting: 3 punts inside the 20 yard line, 1 inside the 5 yard line
Kicking: 1 touchback, 44 yard field goal made, 1/1 XP
You have to show love to specialists when they have fantastic performances. Pearl kicker Cade Davis played a major role for Pearl in a 14-10 loss to Brandon. He pinned Brandon deep in their own territory multiple times, and put some points on the board with a 44 yard field goal. Pearl will take on Ocean Springs in the first round of the playoffs next week.
