Jones Ready For Region Title Push

Prior to 2016, the Horn Lake Eagles haven’t made the postseason since 2003. During that drought, they had only 10 total wins in region play. Their senior quarterback this season would be one of the first to say that it is in the rear view mirror.
Raydarious Jones is part of a senior class that is littered with talent and the main centerpiece behind transforming Horn Lake from being a bottom feeder, to one of 6A’s title contenders. Part of the process has came down to a simple mindset according to Jones.
“We’ve been focusing on one week at a time as in doing the little things and overcoming adversity,” Jones told SES Mississippi. “We’ve been changing the culture and doing things in the community to help better it, just doing the little things in life.”
Another piece of the puzzle has been the head coach, Brad Boyette.
“He’s done a great job turning us into young men, keeping us focus on the goal we have,” Jones said.
Jones is a purely built athlete, so much so that he has the capability to play on both sides of the ball. On Fridays, he’s the man behind center who so far has passed for 705 yards and six TDs and rushed for 448 yards with seven scores. Those stats both lead the team.
He was chosen to play on the defensive side of the ball recently as he was selected to play in the 38th annual MS/AL All-Star game in December as a defensive back.
The difference between this season and last season ultimately comes down to his mental gears according to Jones.
“I’ve became a better leader and l have learned about the game more as well as responding to things that don’t go my way,” Jones said.
Jones will lead his team against Columbus this Friday and will aim for their seventh win.
