Catching Up With Patrick Shegog
SES: Talk about your performance so far in your senior season. Which areas have you progressed in and what needs to be worked on going though region play?
Shegog: "I feel like I've been doing good. I have progressed in the passing and running game, but I still feel like I can do even better. I have to continue to take care of the ball because turnovers can be the difference between a win and a loss."
SES: Talk about your team through the first half of the season. What can you and your team take away from those games going into Oxford Friday and the rest of the season?
Shegog: "We felt good about ourselves because we came from 1-4 last year, to 4-1 this year. Horn Lake was a wake-up call for us to realize that we still have a lot of work to do."
SES: What has to be done in order to get that first region win against Oxford and that stout front seven?
Shegog: "We just have to go out and execute our game plan. We have to be the smarter and more physical team all night. This has been a game that both teams have been waiting on for a long time and we just have to want it more."
SES: Talk about the pressure that's felt in Batesville to win that gold ball in December. Have you felt any pressure from the fan base?
Shegog: "Our fans expect us to win every game. Whenever we lose, a lot of people have stuff to say but we can't pay attention to that. We just have to learn from our mistakes and try to correct them in the next game."
SES: If you could listen to any song right before you take the field to play, what would it be and why?
Shegog: "Any song by FlyRich Double & Pe$o. Our teammate, Thomas Turner, and former temmate, JaMichael Robinson, makes good music together that we play on our speakers before every game to get pumped up."
SES: What is something people may be surprised to know about you?
Shegog: "I love Harry Potter."
