Catching Up With Marcus Murphy
Marcus Murphy put a lot of people on notice last season, as he carried West Point to a 14-1 season that ended in Starkville where they dominated Laurel en route to earning the 5A State Championship.
The Green Wave haven't skipped a beat this season, as they have won their first four games of the season in dominant fasion. West Point is either #1 or #2 in every major Mississippi High School football poll in the state.
"We've performed well as a whole and that is what makes us a special group," Murphy told SES Mississippi on the impressive 4-0 start by West Point.
Through 4 games Marcus leads West Point with 517 yards on the ground and 8 touchdowns along with 160 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.
"I've perfomed well and made some big plays for my team. I have to do better with my passing game and I will," Murphy on his performance so far this season and what part of his game he can improve on.
"My main goal is to finish this year better than last year, and have better stats," Marcus on his individual goals for this season.
Marcus recommitted to Mississippi State back in May, and he's all in with the Bulldogs. He will look to make an impact with the Bulldogs immediately next season as a freshman. He was impressed but not surprised about their big win this past weekend
"I wasn't surprised about the win, I always have faith in MSU! They've put in the work so they deserved the win honestly, and I'm happy to be apart of the family. Go Dawgs!," Murphy on Mississippi State's big win over LSU last weekend.
Murphy is a must watch player in the state of Mississippi, as he looks to carry his Green Wave squad to another 5A State Championship this season.
