Catching Up With Hiram Wadlington
If you know him, you know that Oxford running back Hiram Wadlington is one of the hardest working football players in the state. His work ethic has paid off with back-to-back solid seasons for the Chargers. He began his senior season last week on the road in a big win over Vicksburg. Wadlington rushed for 149 yards and a score. He also caught a touchdown pass as he has proved time and time again that his one of the best pass catching running backs in the state.
It is time for Oxford to travel to Starkville for the Little Egg Bowl. We caught up with Wadlington this week to get to know him better and to see how he was feeling about the game played, the game coming up.
SES: How do you feel things went last week?
Wadlington: Offensively, we had “game one” types of mistakes in the first half but overcame them in the second half. Defensively, they played great and gave us plenty of chances to execute more on offense.
SES: How are you guys feeling about Starkville?
Wadlington: I’m pumped! Personally, I’m ready to roll right now. As a team we are prepared and excited for the game.
SES: If you could hear one song right now, what would it be and why?
Wadlington: “Put On” by Young Jeezy… We (Oxford) have to put on for our city tonight in Starkville.
SES: Tell me something that others might be surprised to know about you.
Wadlington: I’m very shy/quiet in front of a crowd. I don’t like to stand out outside of sports. It’s different in football because that’s something I love. I would rather not talk in front of a bunch of people.
