Brown Shines At Fortius Project, Earns First Offer
East Central's star tailback, Tony Brown, made his long awaited Fortius Project debut last Saturday at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Brown did not disappoint, showcasing his elite acceleration and agility as he competed with other top athletes from Mississippi. Tony also showed off his impressive top-end speed with a 4.49 forty yard dash in the testing portion of the combine.
"I was satisfied with all my results. I need to improve on everything cause you can always get better, but my shuttle time is the main thing I think I need to work on," Brown told SES Mississippi on his performance at the Fortius Project.
Brown also displayed excellent route running and catching capabilities in the camp's one on one drills. He also showed a strong knowledge of the game with his quick decision making during option reads.
As you probably recall, Brown was the leading rusher in the state and 4th in the nation last season with 3,317 yards as he led the Hornets stellar rushing attack.
Despite the unreal video-game numbers he posted in 2016, Brown went into the offseason with zero offers. This past weekend following the combine Brown finally received his first offer, coming from Head Coach Chad Huff and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
"It felt great, it was a good day!," Brown on his initial thoughts after receiving his first offer. If Brown puts on another show in his senior campaign this will probably be the first of a long line of offers, Tony will get to choose from next spring.
Tony Brown will be one of the top players you will want to watch in 2017, as he chases more rushing records.
