Ethan Turner Looking To Gain Experience At Fortius Project
Guntown Middle School's Ethan Turner is looking forward to a great opportunity to gain some big time experience at the Fortius Project. Turner is a 2021 5'7 125lb Quarterback currently at Guntown Middle School, but will be transitioning to Saltillo High School next season.
The Fortius Project on February 25th at ICC will give Ethan a chance to compete with some of the older guys he'll see on the field next season, as he makes the transition from middle school to high school football.
Saltillo and Head Coach Pat Byrd will be looking to bounce back from a 2-10 season in 2016. With Senior Quarterback Kane Wilbanks graduating, Ethan will have an opportunity to compete for the Quarterback battle as a Freshman.
"My goal for our team is to be the best we can be. Therefore as a leader I need to get in the extra work and set an example for the rest of the team," Turner on team goals for the 2017 campaign. As they look to get back to their winning ways at Saltillo, it will be very important to have young guys like Ethan step up over the next few years.
Turner has a couple parts of his game he would like to improve throughout this offseason,"Passing accuracy and footwork, I think are the things I need to work on the most." He will get a good start on improving those parts of his game when he attends the Fortius Project in late February.
When asked what NFL quarterback he likes to model his game after, he chose one of the most successful College Quarterbacks in Mississippi history. "I like Dak Prescott. He is one of the best all around quarterbacks in the NFL. He can pass it on the money anytime he wants, but he can also pull the ball down and run for a first down," Turner told SES Mississippi about Dak Prescott.
"I want to improve my skills as a Quarterback," Ethan Turner told SES what he would like to accomplish at the Fortius Project. Along with improving his skills, Turner will get some key experience competing with some of the best athletes Mississippi has to offer at the Fortius Project combine on February 25th at ICC.
The Fortius Project is a series of combines held throughout the state during the spring. It is built to not only allow athletes a measuring stick for their competition but also sheds light on areas they will need to focus on during the off-season.
