RtN: Water Valley's Martavius Rockette

In a season full of tough losses and growing pains for the young Water Valley Blue Devils, Freshman Martavius Rockette was a bright spot, showcasing his electrifying athletic ability every time he touched the ball in all three facets of the game.

Offensively, Rockette had almost 500 yards receiving on 35 catches with 5 total offensive touchdowns. Defensively, he led the defense with three interceptions on the season. Despite his success on offense and defense some of Rockette's most incredible plays came on punt returns, he had a punt return touchdown and three returns that were over 60 yards long.

The 5'10 160 pound athlete will be a huge playmaker offensively and defensively for Head Coach Brad Embry over the next 3 years at Water Valley.

Introducing Martavius Rockette

SES: You have the athletic ability to play several positions offensively and defensively. Which position do you feel the most comfortable at and why?

Rockette: I feel the most comfortable playing wide receiver, because I want to score touchdowns and receiver gives me the best opportunity to do that.

SES: Do you have a favorite NFL receiver that you try to model your game after? If so, what do you like most about him.

Rockette: Julio Jones, I like Jones because he doesn't argue or anything, he just lets his play do the talking.

SES: What goals do you have for yourself in your next 3 years of high school football?

Rockette: I want to get bigger, stronger, and faster.

SES: Who was your biggest influence growing up and why?

Rockette: My dad, because he is the one that always talked to me about football when I was growing up.
