1A Playoff Preview
Smithville Seminoles (11-2) vs. Simmons Blue Devils (11-0)
Two teams that emerged as #1 seeds out of their respective regions square off for the right to participate in the state title. Simmons is the reigning 1A champion and will look to have a shot at repeating that feat in 2016.
Smithville, a 1-1A powerhouse, is without their star running back Dee Moore who was lost early in the playoffs due to injury. The 'Noles won a nail-biter last week vs. Brooks thanks to a late field goal.
Lumberton Panthers (11-2) vs. Nanih Waiya Warriors (13-1)
The Lumberton Panthers come into Friday night's matchup averaging 306 rushing yards per game. It is this rushing attack that has helped the Panthers win 11 games and fight for a shot to represent 1A South this season in Starkville.
Nanih Waiya has demonstrated their might in 2016 in numerous impressive wins, including a 54-3 rout of 1A North powerhouse Smithville. The Warrior faithful will hope for another impressive win this week against a very talented Lumberton team.
