Coverage Breakdown: Brandon @ Petal
Players to Watch
Brandon Bulldogs 10-3 (6-1)
Brady Anderson: Anderson has been a consistent force distributing the football throughout the season. He will need to continue that work tonight in order to keep forcing Brandon through the postseason.
Corey Proctor: Proctor has been causing defenders to bounce off of him all season. His old school style of running is a perfect complement to the Dogs other back, Vincent Butler.
Bo Whatley: The quarterback turned receiver has had an amazing year. He has 62 receptions with six scores. He totaled eight catches in the earlier matchup with Petal.
Rodney Hawkins: Hawkins has become a shutdown guy on the corner and a gamebreaker everywhere else. If he ends up with the ball in his hands, it will be a long night for Petal.
Schdarren Archie: Archie has been all over the field this season and has turned things on over the past few weeks to another level. He smells the golden ball.
Petal Panthers 8-4 (5-2)
Tanner Estill: He has put together a fine season but Brandon had his number in the first meeting. They picked him off twice and slowed down his running ability. He will need to have that fixed tonight.
Stephon Huderson: After three games in a row without cracking 100 yards rushing, Huderson exploded for 246 last week. He will need to do as he did in 2015, put his team on his back and carry them to the promise land.
Xavier Yancey: Yancey has proven to be a great compliment to both Huderson and Estill in the ground game. Yancey runs low to the ground and very hard. If he can soften up the Brandon interior look out for Huderson.
Charlie Marlowe: Marlowe will have his hands full chasing Butler and trying to stuff Proctor, but he is plenty capable of doing so.
Chris Monroe: Monroe can cause trouble for Brady Anderson and will need to do more times than not tonight to keep the senior off balance.
Keys to the Game
Brandon cannot think about how easily they defeated Petal earlier in the season. This is the playoffs and they have to stay focused and not allow the Panthers to get any momentum going.
Petal will need to play mistake free football and their playmakers must play lights out to keep pace with the Bulldogs.
Watts can make the tough catches and run away from defenses in a hurry. If he can strike for a big play, it will go a long way in loosening things up on the Brandon defense.
