Coverage Recap: Madison Central 35 | Northwest Rankin 24
In a battle of 6A powers, the Jaguars took home the win after winning 35-24 over the Cougars of Northwest Rankin. MC’s defense was stout the entire night, led by linebacker Truett Bourne and defensive back Quentin Euell. The defensive line managed to stay disciplined enough to keep Braden Smith and Cameron Carroll from breaking free.
Jack Walker showed why he is going to a D1 school, as he was dominant all night. He spread the ball around getting it to Gabe Short, Tyshawn White, Braden Boykin, and Myles Hopson, mostly.
The best player on the football field didn’t win the game but he deserves a shoutout. Safety Jarrian Jones for Northwest Rankin is an absolute stud. He flew around the field all night long and one play, he came up and cutoff the receiver’s route, taking it to the house for a pick six. The sophomore already has a Mississippi State offer and will have plenty more by the time he graduates.
Myles Hopson is another sophomore that has potential to be special. Early in the game, Jack Walker connected on a long pass that put the Jags inside the 10. After that, Walker fed Hopson the ball throughout the night, with success.
