GoW: The Ground Game
There has not been a matchup this season that has seen this much talent pitted against each other at the running back position. Friday night at Jackson Prep we will witness a true heavyweight matchup between the bar setter, the young man who will finish his career as one of the greatest ever to play Mississippi High School Football and the youngster that is making his presence known around the state.
For PCS it is senior Isaiah Woullard.
Woullard has been unmatched in his offensive production over the past few seasons. He currently is rolling through the 2016 season at a clip of well over 200 yards per game. He is on pace to leave high school at the state’s all time leading rusher.
What has made him special this season is his ability to break off long runs in key moments of close games to put his Bobcats in the driver’s seat. If he is able to break a few on Friday night it will take a load of pressure off of the PCS defense and put them in a position to win the game.
For Jackson Prep it will be super sophomore Jerrion Ealy.
Ealy is a human highlight reel. He has that game breaker ability seen in video games. On any given play, he has the athleticism to take it to the house in electrifying fashion. His low center of gravity makes him extremely difficult to tackle.
Much like Woullard, Ealy can give his defense a huge break by stacking up chunks of yards and points. The key to slowing either one of these teams down revolves around containing the running backs. That is a very tall order for any defense.
