Coverage Breakdown: Petal @ #5 Brandon

Brandon, who is #5 on our top 10 list and Petal, who is just outside the top 10, square off Friday night in a battle of heavyweight 6A powers. Both teams have Quarterbacks and Running Backs who are considered to be some of the top players at their respective positions in the state

Players to Watch

Brandon Bulldogs

#4 RB Vincent Butler-A game-changing back who can beat you with speed and power.

#14 QB Brady Anderson-Talented thrower who makes this offense, tick.

#1 Safety Schdarren Archie-Ultra-talented safety with a plethora of offers. Was recently added to the MS/AL All-Star roster.

#22 CB Rodney Hawkins-Was injured earlier in the year but is one of the top corners in the state.

Petal Panthers

#8 RB Stephon Huderson-Currently committed to Tulane and is one of the top backs in the state.

#10 QB Tanner Estill-Athletic dual threat who can kill defenses in a variety of ways.

#17 LB Charlie Marlowe-Leader of defense. 14 tackles and a sack against Hattiesburg earlier in the season.

#99 DL Kane Roberts-A big and versatile defensive lineman who has his motor running the entire game.

Keys to the game for Petal:

Give Stephon Huderson a minimum of 25 touches in the game. Let Tanner Estill put his athleticism to good use. Stuff the run and force Brady Anderson out of the pocket where he is less comfortable.

Keys to the game for Brandon:

Both the offensive and defensive linemen are very athletic so use that to your advantage by creating 1 on 1’s. Get Vincent Butler to the ball in space because he’s electric in the open field. When in the redzone, get Schdarren Archie in at wide receiver because Petal won’t have a match for him in a jump-ball situation.
