Coverage Recap: Jackson Prep 34 MRA 7
Madison-Ridgeland Academy and Jackson Preparatory School are well known around the state of Mississippi as being two of the top Academy teams year in and year out. That alone makes this a big game but couple that with the fact that the schools are 20 minutes apart and all of the boys grew up playing sports together, makes it even bigger. Both teams were loaded coming into the season with kids on each team having D1 offers.
MRA had a few injuries to key players, but still had talents like Saahdiq Charles, who is currently committed to LSU, and Hunter Hulsey, who started the season as a backup again, but filled in nicely last year after Hayden Davis went down and has to again this year.
Prep has proven talent like Jacob Crawley and Jerrion Ealy in the backfield who have dominated in year’s past.
This game was supposed* to be a tight game between two powerhouses.
That just wasn’t the case as Jackson Prep routed MRA at their own field 34-7.
Jacob Crawley finished with 181 yards and 3 touchdowns to go along with Ealy’s 54 receiving yards and 17 rushing yards on just 1 rush. (According to Clarion-Ledger’s Daniel Paulling, he was dealing with an undisclosed injury)
At halftime, it was 14-7 Jackson Prep, but out of halftime, the Patriots of Flowood didn’t look back and scored 20 straight points to gain the win.
