Getting To Know Austin Williams
Ocean Springs put together an eight win season in 2015. A big part of the Greyhounds' success came from rising senior wide receiver Austin Williams.
Williams was the 2015 SES Prime Time Award recipient and is poised for a monster senior season and his Greyhounds are set to make a run at the 6A crown. Williams says they are working hard this spring to do the things they need to do to be ready for the fall.
“We are just trying to better ourselves as a team overall,” Williams told SES Mississippi. “We want to make sure we are better than the day before. We want to work on the little things and just continue to work.”
At 6-3, 202-pounds, Williams has the size, speed and athleticism that makes him very difficult to defend and also has many colleges trying to sway him to join their respective programs. However, he has recently ended his recruiting process by committing to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
“It feels great to just focus on high school ball and trying to get that ring,” Williams said. “A lot of stress is gone.”
With the college choice now nailed down and his focus on his Greyhounds, Williams has busy plans moving forward that will prove to be good for Ocean Springs and for the Mississippi State.
“I plan to continue working out all the time and perfecting my craft,” Williams explained. “I will hit a couple of camps. In my free time, I’ll be on the water fishing or something like that.”
A Little Extra:
For those Mississippi High School Football fans as well as Mississippi State Bulldog fans, here is a little extra about the Ocean Springs playmaker that wouldn’t normally make it into the Saturday morning sports pages.
“Step Brothers. I love comedy and Will Ferrell and it’s just a great overall movie.”
“Favorite singer is Drake. I like rap and he’s about the best out there right now. I also like Eric Church.”
Something Others Would Be Surprised To Know:
“I’m a military kid. I’ve moved around a lot. I’ve lived in Germany twice.”
