Tim Jones Getting Better And Better
Biloxi High School standout receiver Tim Jones averaged over 20 yards per catch in 2015. That stat alone is very impressive. Although, his numbers are down from his breakout sophomore campaign, Jones still put together a solid junior year.
Biloxi entered the 2015 season with a new staff calling the shots. Jones admits it was a tough transition but now sees the light at the end of the tunnel.
“I think this past season could've been better,” Jones told SES Mississippi. “Our team was going through a transition, learning new stuff with new coaches, and a lot was going on. But also, at first, there was lack of commitment. But it got better and is looking right and as for the season itself, it could've been better if we worked harder as a team and finished.”
Jones racked up 37 catches for 743 yards and seven scores this past season although he only played in eight games. He now has 137 receptions for just over 2,100 yards for his career.
“I think it went fantastic,” Jones said. “The fact that I missed three games and still had the outcome that I did was great.”
Jones is one of the most athletic skill players in the entire state but is not satisfied with his speed and fundamentals. He says he will be spending his offseason becoming uncoverable.
“I'm mainly working on speed work and focusing on fundamental stuff to get the little things better,” Jones explained. “I'm also working combine work since I missed last summer for all the camps and stuff. So this summer coming up I'll be attending all my camps.”
Biloxi may have only won three games in 2015, but that did not take away from the pride players feel when wearing the school colors. That is a feeling not lost on Tim Jones.
“I love that I'm playing for my home and playing with all my friends that I've grown up with. No matter what the outcome I'm always happy playing for Biloxi.”
