4A: The Breakdown
What a treat this game could be. It pits the nasty and stifling defense of Noxubee against the prolific and flashy offense of St. Stanislaus. Not to mention the star power that will be present in the form of Noxubee's senior defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons and St. Stan's offensive battery in junior quarterback Myles Brennan and junior receiver Chase Rogers. This match-up could prove to be the best of the weekend.
After previously mentioning Simmons, the next name to know for the Tigers is their playmaking quarterback Timmorius Conner. If he gets going as he did a few weeks ago when I saw him against Houston. Last week he wasn't overly productive but he lead the offense in an efficient manner completing 15 of his 22 passing attempts. For the Tiger offense to tick he must be making things happen.
Speaking of offense, that's just what we'll discuss for the Rock-a-Chaws, as well. The aforementioned Brennan has thrown for 4,980 yards and 51 touchdowns this season. The previously mentioned Rogers was on the receiving end of 77 passes for 1,416 yards and 19 scores this season. Senior pass catcher Owen Betz caught 43 passes for 1,022 yards and 10 touchdowns. Brennan averages over 355 passing yards per game.
What will prevail? The Tigers' pass rush or the Rock-a-Chaws the passing attack? Certainly an outcome you will have to watch to find out.
